According to a local legend, Trahlyta was a Cherokee princess who kept her beauty and youth by drinking magic waters from a spring.

She was kidnapped by a rejected suitor and taken far-away from the magic spring.  As soon as she was taken away from the spring, her youth started to disappear.  She quickley became very old and ill.  Her abductor promised to bury the dying princess near her home.  Her tribe marked her grave with stones, and it is now a custom for a passersby to add a stone to her grave for good luck.
